#ShopScranton Spotlight: Meet Marie Sacco of Modish!!!

Monday, July 7, 2014

Just before last year’s Arts on the Square, we discovered the chicest boutique pop up in a historic building in downtown Scranton.  In one short year, Modish has become a staple, go-to boutique for the trendiest fashion at incredible prices. Meet Miss Modish herself Maria Sacco.  She’s an inspiring woman in our community and she’s joined forces with us for #shopscranton!

Hello Maria!

When did you open Modish?
July 26, 2013 …..the day before last year’s Arts on the Square!

Why did you decide to go into business for yourself?
I thought Scranton needed a trendy, yet affordable, women’s clothing and accessories store. I was getting tired of ordering from online websites or driving out of town to shop and I figured a lot of people probably felt the same way as I did so I thought why not bring the shopping here!

Who is your ideal customer?
High school and college students

Give us some fashion advice!  What is The Color, The Cut, and The Trend of the season?
The colors of the season are cobalt blue, mint, and coral. Crop tops which are not my personal favorite but seem to be a favorite to most are the trend of the season - paired with high waisted shorts and skirts. And ROMPERS, I can’t seem to keep enough of them in the store!!

What would be your one piece of advice to other creative entrepreneurs who would like to start their own business?
If you work really hard and are kind to everyone, you will see positive results.

What do you love most about having your own business in downtown Scranton, PA?
I love being so close to the colleges and I absolutely love going out downtown and seeing girls dressed in things from the store! :)

What do you love most about Scranton in general?
It’s home.

Why do you think it’s important to have and support events in the downtown like Arts on The Square…
People often say there is nothing to do in Scranton. This event along with a lot of others that take place downtown gives people something to do and also gives them the chance to make their way down here and walk around and explore the area. The last event brought a lot of people into the store and a majority of them said that they didn’t realize a lot of new cute shops opened up downtown.

What are you offering your customers on the day of Arts on the Square?
We will be offering 15% off along with a coupon for your next visit!
