We’re so grateful for all of the talented local businesses and artists, crafters, designers & musicians that have come together to make Holiday on the Square & Shop Scranton such wonderfully anticipated events!  We want to offer you all a sneak peek into the very generous contributions they’ve made to our Goodie Bags, which will be given out to the first 150 shopper to stroll through our (tent) door on Saturday! 


We're extra excited that Highway 81 Revisited created "Snow Tracks", a Winter Compilation digital music download card to be released especially for Holiday on the Square. This special release features some great tunes by Cabinet, The Coal Town Rounders, Rogue Chimp, Okay Paddy, Cherokee Red, The Great Party, Cold Coffee, Sweatheart, Needlepoints, Abstract Peoples, Kid Icarus, and A Fire with Friends! Hand Sewn Goodness: Our friend Rachael Arnone of Bachestinks lovingly (and ambitiously) hand sewed 150 of her Tomato Pincushions! Even if you don’t sew, you will appreciate this little fabric work of art!  Shantytown Design whipped up 150 of these creative puff keychains!


Local Luxury: Lavish Body + Home donated 150 lip balms and a valuable Buck coupon!  Also, get an exclusive raffle ticket to win a gorgeous upcycled Fisher Cat Fiber Co rug.



Our favorite new women’s boutique, Modish, donated 150 sets of very stylish fingerless gloves!



Our favorite indie music shop, Embassy Vinyl, donated these fun fridge magnet, and the Backyard Ale House made us these great beer coozies!


Our Goodie Bag will also be stuffed with valuable coupons from local fashion favorites Freedlove and Burlap and Bourbon!



Yummy fresh baked chocolate chip cookies will be donated by Posh at the Scranton Club. And, a valuable coupon from Eden-  A Vegan CafĂ©!

Holiday on the Square Update: Shop Scranton!

We are so excited to showcase the more than 30 downtown businesses that are participating in Shop Scranton and extending the Holiday on the Square spirit through the entire downtown on December 6th & 7th!  These wonderful businesses each have something extra special planned for you on the evening of December 6th (First Friday Art Walk) and the afternoon of Saturday December 7th.  You can pick up a map at Holiday on the Square to guide you around!

We've got a very exciting announcement!  You'll be able to get a professional old-timey portrait taken right at Holiday on the Square! It's the perfect holiday gift for your loved one or yourself!


Get your portrait taken at Holiday on The Square by the talented John Ingiaimo. John will be using instant film with a 8X10 Deerdorff view camera, from 1902 to photograph you with the beautiful backdrop of downtown Scranton. Each one-of-a-kind photo will be instantly developed using film from The Impossible Project and ready to take home that day. 

Photo sizes and prices: 
8x10- $40 prepaid, $50 day of 
3x5- $30 prepaid,  $40 day of
Once you purchase photo we'll email you to schedule the time for your photo to be taken - Dec 6th or 7th at Holiday on the Square.

Holiday on the Square: All the warm & fuzzy details!

The 1st Annual Holiday on the Square is less than a month away!  Are you wondering what all the buzz is about? Look no further because we've got all the warm & fuzzy details!


Holiday on the Square is our area’s first outdoor holiday marketplace happening December 6th from 5-9pm  & December 7th from 11-6pm on beautiful Courthouse Square in Downtown Scranton.  We’re transforming Courthouse Square into a Winter Wonderland of warm lights with the annual Courthouse tree lighting & heated tents filled with over 50 of the most unique handmade vendors, live music & carolers, a gallery of nostalgic Scranton holiday photographs, horse-drawn carriage rides, ornament making workshops for the kiddos and kids-at-heart, free hot chocolate (on Friday night) and an Ugly Sweater contest with valuable prizes like downtown biz gift cards!! On Friday night we’ll be part of Scranton’s 1st Friday Art Walk and on Saturday, we’re the centerpiece of Shop Scranton. We've got everything you need to create a new holiday tradition, all packed into a warm and cozy historic setting.




Looking to find that perfect gift for each person on your list?  Our talented artist & artisan vendors are crafting up beautiful handmade goods that will delight your family and friends.

Want a super unique holiday memento? Photographer John Ingiaimo will be on hand with his 8X10 Deerdorff view camera to photograph you with a backdrop of downtown all dressed up for the holidays.

Holiday on the Square Update: Call for Vintage Scranton Photos

Tis the season of Nostalgia! 

Holiday on the Square is seeking your photos of Scranton during the holidays for an outdoor art gallery display. We are looking for photos from 1980's and before of downtown Scranton or other recognizable Scranton landmarks (Nay Aug Park etc).  

Email your jpegs to arts-culture@Lackawannacounty.org by Nov. 15 to be considered. 

Those selected will have their photo displayed in large format at Holiday on the Square and will get to keep print that is made.
