Arts on the Square Spotlight: Meet Kristin Martelli of GROW

Thursday, July 11, 2013
We were very excited to chat with Kristin Martelli of GROW (Green Ridge Om & Wellness) and find out more about the wellness community she is creating. You won't want to miss out on some of the special wellness treats she has created for adults and children at Arts on the Square.

Tell us a little about your company and what inspired you to start it.
We are a new and growing community based wellness center in Scranton.  GROW is dedicated to a simple, natural, and holistic lifestyle that helps support our patients/clients on their journey into wellness. We believe in health care vs sick care and advocate true preventive "medicine." All of this is reflected in the quality of our services, the products we use (organic massage cream, therapeutic grade essential oils, etc), the classes we offer at the center, and the businesses/professionals we endorse or refer to.

I truly believe in what I do, and feel that more people in our community can benefit from holistic practices if there were more opportunities for them to do so.  Cost, location and lack of information are the three biggest factors keeping people away from quality holistic practitioners.  Dr Taylor and I share similar outlooks on best wellness practices and I am very grateful that he encouraged me to share space with him to see out our visions together.

What services do you offer?
We currently offer chiropractic, massage, reiki, craniosacral, whole food supplements, high quality vitamins, and all natural weight loss solutions.  As we grow, we will be adding other professionals to our team.

What is your background and what led you to the wellness field?
Since childhood, I have had access to many books about spirituality and natural healing. My father and I would get into some really neat conversations! Right before he passed away in 1994, he handed me a book that ironically led me to seek alternative forms of healing to cope with that loss.  Over the years, I met and studied under many different healers and then, in 2005, I enrolled myself into the Massage Academy of the Poconos.  My children keep me inspired as I learn alternative methods to help heal their various ailments/conditions and discover amazing results. Naturally, I want to share what I've learned with anyone who seeks it out. I am nationally recognized as a Board Certified Massage Therapist and licensed to practice massage in the state of Pennsylvania.
What will you be featuring at the Arts on the Square festival? Will you be offering any services?
We will be offering 10 minute chair massages for only $5!! There will be a sign up sheet at our table to schedule your massage on a first come, first serve basis. We will also have our therapeutic grade aromatherapy products and handmade heat-able packs with essential oils both at a discounted price for the day.  For the kids or kids at heart: face or body painting of healing art symbols will be available for a donation.  Our popular children's “game” that encourages kids to drink more water throughout the day will also be available for purchase.  I will also have free literature about some of the other services/products we offer at our center and, of course, positive vibes are always free and in abundance at GROW!

What is your most popular service or product?
Our package deal has been a big hit.  Currently, we are offering a half hour massage and a chiropractic adjustment (including initial consultation for first comers) together for only $40!!!

Is there any other information you would like us to highlight about you or your work?
We also carry Om in the Attic products by Maura Cummings and Blessed Be Herbal Creations by Sarah Yzkanin at our office!!!
